The Home Office is responsible for tackling threats such as fraud, terrorism and violence against women and girls - among other forms of criminality that risk being exacerbated by advances in AI. Current developments in AI have the potential not just to drive economic growth and innovation, but also to be misused and exploited by criminals and bad actors.  To support policy development, we want to start a constructive dialogue with industry to understand how industry partners see these threats unfolding, the challenges of secure AI adoption and how you are working to embed security across the ecosystem.  We want to share government and law enforcement expertise on where we see these threats emerging and discuss how we can work together to tackle them.

This webinar offers an opportunity for the Home Office to engage with industry from across the AI ecosystem in an open dialogue about the risks posed by AI-enabled criminality. The Home Office will present a pioneering deepfake detection initiative, co-led with DSIT, that’s driving innovation and positioning the UK at the forefront of AI threat response. By uniting government with industry and academia, we can confront emerging tech challenges together.

The webinar will also include discussion facilitated by a panel of experts in policy and academia on some of the key challenges. This session aims to be a starting point for ongoing collaboration between the Home Office and industry on how both public policy and industry practices can tackle the threat of AI criminal misuse. This will aid industry development, inform government policy, and support public trust in the AI industry.
